Don't Mess With Desitin-y

Holy macaroni, I can't believe Cece is already two years old and Philip's four months! How did that happen?? (I also can't believe I wrote "holy macaroni." I'm in constant baby talk mode these days). I guess time flies when you're having fun! I mean don't get me wrong - it's definitely challenging having both an infant and a toddler. But it's also so amusing. I'm always laughing! And I swear it's not just delirium from lack of sleep.

DiaperRashCream-small.jpgFor example, last week we were running super late to the annual Spring Gala event at Cece's daycare. Jim couldn't find his good shoes, and I couldn't find, well... Cece. I raced around the house, looking in all of her favorite hiding spots. Finally I heard her giggling in the nursery. But it wasn't the adorable I'm-laughing-at-Teletubbies type of giggle. It was the diabolical I'm-up-to-no-good giggle. I discovered her under Philip's changing table playing with his diaper rash cream, and she was using it like hair gel! Her whole head was white. I wiped off what I could, but not much came out. We had no time to wash it, so Jim molded it into a faux hawk. She looked like Ke$ha, or one of Gwen Stefani's kids. It took everything we had not to laugh when she was up on stage singing "Twinkle Twinkle." Who am I kidding? I laughed so hard I did a little tinkle tinkle. Pure entertainment!!

Two Months In!

Hey blogosphere. Pam here. It's been a couple of months since we brought baby Philip home from the hospital. All is well - he's healthy and very happy. I even heard him laugh the other day when I was making funny faces! Jim thinks it was just gas. But either way, he's advancing so quickly. He's like Einstein with less hair.

Cece's the big girl in the family now, and she's been really excited to help us. We even let her pick Philip's coming home outfit (which was a dress, so that didn't quite work out...)

Anyway, I can't wait to officially introduce him to all of our friends and co-workers!! Uh-oh, gotta log off. Cece's painting the bathroom floor with nail polish again!

He's Here!

baby-philip.jpgIt's official! I've said goodbye to my lovely lady bump, and hello to baby Philip Halpert!!! Everything went really smoothly. He was delivered completely healthy, and so happy that he was giving a thumbs up on the way out. Afterward, I had to stay for the recommended 48-hours (which is a little long to be eating questionable hospital soup and rock hard rolls, but I made it through).

Jim asked the doctor if there's anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth, and I shouted out, "Yes! Pregnancy!" LOL. When we brought Philip home, Cece was overwhelmed with emotion. First she threw her Vtech at the wall and started crying, but then all she wanted to do was be near him. It was pretty adorable. Now I just need to get her to be able to say "Philip" instead of "Pull-Up" so I'm not instinctively rushing to her side with Huggies every time :)

Round Two

pam-round-two.jpgWell it finally happened. We got bored with Cece and decided to have another kid! Okay just kidding, it's actually the complete opposite. Cece's been such a good baby, she inspired us to grow our trio into a quartet. I've been counting down the hours until our new addition joins us. I've also been counting all the zebra cake wrappers on my bedroom floor. Apparently I've had 14 this week. Jeez Louise, put a red sweater on me and call me Fat Albert! Actually, don't.  I'm emotional and I'll get really mad at you.

blue-onesie.jpgAnyway, some people say it's not quite as exciting the second time around, but I totally disagree! Jim and I have had so much fun prepping for a little boy. I bought him the cutest blue onesies, and Jim got him an Erector set.  He spent last night "testing it out" for 2018, (when Philip will actually be able to use it).  It's all very fun and new.  Oh my God, I just heard the ice cream truck!!  I've gotta go wobble after it!

Cece's Christening

It's official: Cece is a member of the covenant community! The baptism ceremony was beautiful... mostly. Cece looked so cute in her christening gown; she was almost in it long enough to get a picture. It was wonderful to see all of our friends and family at the church. My apologies to everyone that went to the reception - we promise that Cece's wedding will be catered. Although the day didn't go as smoothly as planned, all in all it was a truly blessed event. I know all babies are equal in the eyes of the Lord, but Cece was definitely the cutest baby there.

I'm Back!

Hi all, I'm really looking forward to Cece's christening! It's going to be traditional christening - and not in that southern old-timey type of river dunk baptism you see in the True Blood credits. My daughter will be in a super cute white gown that hopefully will not be stained by the holy water. It's going to be adorable and holy. :)

Cece Has a Boyfriend?

Cece's First Kiss

It's starting already...The neighborhood boys are completely captivated by my cute and loveable daughter, and I don't blame them. She's the most precious baby this side of the Wilkes-Barre Airport. Now please don't mention this to the little boy's mother, but he's not good enough for Cece. First off, I've seen him eating dirt on more than one occasion. Secondly, he's missing teeth! And not to mention he has a super limited vocab. Fortunately it doesn't seem like Cece's too enraptured with him in this picture. I hope that means I have at least another year before she starts playing the field.

They grow up so quickly. Before long I'll be buying her makeup and smart phones, and dropping her off at her eighth grade dance. But right now I'm just going to happily enjoy rocking her to sleep and singing her sweet lullabies. No boys allowed ;)

This is my farewell baby blog post, as I've returned to work at Dunder Mifflin and my free time is pretty limited now. Thank you everyone for sharing all your stories and suggestions. Both Cece and I really appreciate it!

Baby Noises

Cece SleepsI thought babies were these peaceful quiet creatures - so not the case. Cece makes all kinds of loud noises. She makes this "SK" sound over and over (sounds like she's beat boxing). She's started making this low, guttural moan when she's upright (like she's possessed by a demon, but in a cute way). Even when she sleeps she makes snorting and sniffling sounds (the way I imagine Al Roker sounds when he sleeps). She's a very very loud (and adorable) baby.

Here she's making loud snorty sounds while sleeping, so much cuter that Al Roker, huh?

First Smile

Mommy and Cece Pink

Cece has kept Jim and I on a pretty strict schedule of never sleeping. However, I think she finally realized that it's better for her if her parents are well rested. Today, I woke up to daylight coming in the window - daylight! It was so beautiful, so peaceful. Wait, why so peaceful? It was way too quiet. I bolted out of bed, positive that she had been kidnapped. But of course she was fine, lying in her bassinet, breathing (I checked) and staring at the ceiling fan. She just stared at it and stared at it. I couldn't take my eyes off her. How could a ceiling fan be so fascinating? But maybe she's a future scientist who was figuring out angles and wind displacement. Or perhaps she's a future poet caught in the beauty of the every day. I know they say babies this young don't really smile, but I swear she did. Jim said it's just that she had indigestion and a lot of gas. But I don't know how well I trust his opinion because he was lying in bed staring at his toes. It was almost as cute, but it's hard to compete with the cutest baby ever.

Baby Mozart

Mommy and Cece

At my baby shower, a couple people gave me Baby Mozart CDs. I'm told listening to Mozart is supposed to help a baby's development; if nothing else it makes for a very highbrow baby...and drowns out her crying :-) I downloaded the music into Jim's iPod, thought that might class him up a bit. Listening to it helps me relax, but the harpsichord makes Cecelia act fussy. However, when Jim's iPod switches over to Bon Jovi (yes, he still listens to Bon Jovi), she gets very relaxed. And, for some reason, "Living on a Prayer" really soothes her and she starts to doze off. It's playing right now, that's how I snuck in the time to post this. So it turns out my little girl prefers hair metal bands to Mozart...I just hope she doesn't start flashing guitar players until she's at least 5.

If nothing else, Baby Mozart gave me the idea for Cecelia's Halloween costume...how cute will she look in a big powdered wig and ruffled bib?
